‘Tis that season – garage sale-ing. In the past I’ve been a HUGE fan, but since the advent of kids, it’s a tough gig. Either I’m heading out early and missing all the late-breakfast-weekend-fun, or we’re dragging them out with muffins and juice boxes and the five of us are jumping in and out of the car – a process that someone at some point will complain about approximately 1/2 hr into the trip. Not to mention the once or twice I went last year produced absolutely nothing.
But last weekend my mother-in-law asked if I wanted to join her, and I decided to give it a go. MAN, was I happy about THAT decision! Of course, I didn’t get anything I truly needed, but the little things make me smile nonetheless. Plus it was a nice opportunity to spend some quality girl time!
Here a few of my prizes. This fish has a slit across the top for – maybe holding recipe cards/photos/grocery lists? Not sure exactly, but I think I’m putting him in the bathroom.
Then there’s this clock. My mother-in-law actually rummaged it out of a box full of junk, but I gasped when I saw it, and given the look on my face, she felt compelled to hand it to me. I am eternally grateful.
Last, but definitely not to be considered least, I spied this toolbox at a sale that overall wasn’t very promising. I wasn’t even sure it was for sale but when I questioned the seller, she replied “Oh yeah, my husband has been bringing all kinds of stuff out here!”. It was indeed full of hardware, which I sorted, and found some valuable stuff. I think it would make a fabulous jewelry organizer, what do you think?
